Thank you, thank you for the incredible support from you and your family and friends, as well as our international canoeing friends around the World. We set out to fundraise for food parcels for those in our community that are in need, through our Canoeing4Covid-19 fundraising initiative.
As of this morning, we are at over R70 000 confirmed in our accounts and once further funds are cleared, following the public holiday we will update you. The donation channels are still open so if you missed a chance to donate, please feel free.
Thank you to everyone who participated and donated, Kenny Rice and his ergo squad, Debbie Lewis, Hayley Nixon and Oscar Chalupsky, who also went the extra mile to leverage donations.
We have a CSA Covid-19 committee who is responsible for managing the funds with full transparency at all times, and we will release updates on our CSA website with regards to the spend on the funds.
Furthermore, those that are following the news at present may have seen articles alluding to the following; “Canoeing SA pushes for ousting of the SASCOC Board”.
On behalf of Canoeing SA, Colin Simpkins submitted a letter to the SASCOC membership on 23 April calling for support for a Special General Meeting to discuss items relating to the SASCOC Board. As a Board, a clear mandate was given to issue the letter, and feedback is being given to the Board throughout the process.
You will note, the press has confirmed that we have the backing of bigger Federations in this matter, and we are continuing in our efforts in this regard to secure the support needed to force the SGM.
