African Sprint Championships 2017

12/01/2017gpmedia

The African Sprint Championship event is due to take place in Morocco from the 30th of March up to and including 01 April 2017.

Canoeing South Africa wishes to advise all interested parties that due to budgetary constraints they will not be in a position to offer any financial assistance to this event, even to the extent of funding the tour manager.

The anticipated cost of the tour is R30 000.00 per athlete .  (Accommodation costs alone = €100 per night.)  Anticipated tour dates are from the 25th March up to and including 02 April 2017.  Deposits would need to be paid in full by 27 February 2017

Due to the date of the event, South Africa would have to run a separate Trial for team selection (over and above the SA Championships) which in itself will incur additional expenses for you the kayaker.  The provisional date for the trial would be 25 February 2017.

Should the trial and selection go ahead, any athlete attending the event would be awarded Federation Colours.

The format of the competition includes flatwater slalom, as well as sprints.

Competitors are allowed to enter just the one discipline if they wish.

In light of these factors CSA urgently requires feedback from its Sprint paddling community as to who may be interested in standing for selection for this event before incurring unnecessary expenses.

Your urgent response by Friday the 13th of January would be appreciated – sg@canoesa.org.za
