SA K1 & K2 MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2-6-2013

12/06/2013Canoe SA

The South African Marathon Racing Team, containing a host of previous World Champions, has been selected to race in Copenhagen from the 18th to 22nd September 2013 in the prestigious World Marathon Championships.

With past World Senior Champions Hank Mc Gregor, Sean Rubenstein and Cam Schoeman joined by current World U23 Champion Grant Van Der Walt in the senior men’s team there will be a World Champion in each boat racing! An incredible achievement for any nation.

The men’s U23 K1 team will feature former U18 World Champ Brandon Van Der Walt and Dusi sensation Andy Birkett. For the ladies Olympic Medalist Bridgitte Hartley will be teaming up with Michele Eray in a K2 and joining Alexa Cole and Eloise Van Gysen who have unfinished business after looking so good for a medal last year!

The Junior boys and girls are looking really strong this year and great things are expected of them this year. The Ballies are perennial medalists and should again prove their dominance internationally.

Congratulations to all paddlers selected and train hard.
