RESOLUTIONS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN SPORTS CONFEDERATION AND OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (SASCOC) PRESIDENTS COUNCIL

We the Presidents of the member National Federations and Provincial Sports Confederations, gathered at Olympic House, Johannesburg on 23 June 2013, hereby NOTE that we:

  1. Have a fiduciary responsibility in the governing of our National Federations and Provincial Sports Confederations
  2. Are governed by the laws of the country
  3. Have a responsibility to ensure there are structures in the various districts of the country
  4. Have a responsibility to ensure there is talent development at district level to ensure sustainability of our sport
  5. Have a responsibility to understand the profile of our fan base
  6. Need to manage our reputation in terms of public view
  7. Need to create more awareness about our sport through use of community TV
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation is critical for the success of our sports
  9. Should not use the term Team South Africa for sport specific teams as they are not multi-coded teams delivered by SASCOC

 

We therefore, hereby RESOLVE that:

Presidents Address
1. We need to partner with one of the bidders involved in the process of the new lottery operating license

SASCOC’s Quadrennial Strategic Plan
2. All NFs will be considered for the Provincial Coach Developer programme

Membership: Management of Disputes
3. A workshop will be held to capacitate members on understanding the Companies Act
4. The Provincial Sports Confederations will establish Dispute and Arbitration Committees in their provinces to deal with disputes
5. SASCOC Board will meet with the Minister of Sport and Recreation on the issue of private entities taking member NFs to court

Marketing and/Broadcasting
6. We will package our content for Community TV to further create awareness of our sports

National Colours Regulations
7. Recommendations on Colours Regulations will be forwarded for consideration by the National Colours Commission
8. NFs and PSCs will develop their national and provincial colours policies respectively

Demarcations Board
9. NFs will participate in the upcoming Demarcations public participation processes at various ward levels

SASCOC Protocol Manual
10. SASCOC will provide copies of the National Anthem to all NFs for use at national and international events
11. The Protocol Manual will be updated based on input from members
12. SASCOC will draw up Standing Rules for members

Provincial Structures
13. SASCOC will create a quarterly reporting template for the PSCs
