canoeing and kayaking in South Africa, from the world class sprinting venues and marathon events, to the hugely popular long distance river racing season that forms the backbone of the sport.
Canoeing in South Africa is made up of ten different disciplines. Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom are the two Olympic disciplines, while South African pedigree shines through in the Canoe Marathon discipline, which incorporates the unique river racing scene. Surf Ski paddling is growing considerably, and the union also oversees the White Water, Canoe Polo, Freestyle, Rafting, Dragon Boating and Waveski disciplines.
